Phalaenopsis Orchid Wedding Flowers
Phalaenopsis orchids make startling wedding flowers. I've not met anybody yet who has not been struck by their graceful beauty.
Commonly known as Moth Orchids, Phalaenopsis come in a variety of colours including white, pink, yellow and purple.
Celebrities seem to love them, with Tom Cruise's recent wedding being decorated with them.
Below are some pictures taken at a recent wedding where we provided the flowers, and Phalaenopsis was the predominant flower. These photos give you an idea of this flower's versatility as you can use them in the bride's bouquet, as a cake decoration, as buttonholes and as centerpieces.

The photo above is of the top of the wedding cake. There were further orchid clusters at the side and base of the cake.
Phalaenopsis Orchid Bridal Bouquets
A style of bridal bouquet that emphasizes this orchid's natural shape, is a shower bouquet (cascade bouquet). This is a more advanced look to achieve. The bouquet in the photograph took Cindy, an experienced florist, two hours to create.

The above photo is a side view of the bouquet. We make this type of wedding bouquet on the morning of the wedding, so that the flowers are as fresh as possible.
Phalaenopsis look wonderful just by themselves. But they are one of the more exclusively priced flowers. If you have got one eye on your budget, they will mix well with other less expensive flowers, to create a mixed bouquet. Try mixing them with roses, Singapore orchids or dark green tropical foliage.
Phalaenopsis Buttonholes
Phalaenopsis are great for buttonholes as they are a relatively flat flower and face forward. They have quite delicate petals so just be careful when you are hugging and kissing people!

The shape of these flowers also makes them great choices for use as a wrist corsage or as a hair decoration.
